Erdoğan and the Deep State

This article by Dexter Filkins in the New Yorker about Erdoğan and the Deep State has been causing a lot of chin-wagging, with people e-mailing me and asking whether it was true. True enough, I say, although we can’t be certain of the details. You can read it for yourself here.

Regards,
Intense days it have been, totally taken up by the news around the killing of 35 civilians by the Turkish air forces. Chilling details, like: 28 of the 35 deceased had the same last name, and 17 of 35 were under the age of 18.

Interesting article. Thanks for alerting me to it. I recommend Kerem Öktem’s book ‘Angry Nation’ as a good English language source for an historical perspective on the deep state.
