Breaking News: Women in Trousers

Proposals to allow women members of parliament to wear pants were made in 2009 and 2011, but were overturned. Now, finally, after MP Safak Pavey, who has a prosthetic leg, pointed out in her speech that while headscarves were permitted, she still wasn’t allowed to wear trousers, the issue was put back on the agenda and sailed through without a fuss and with minimal press interest.
